چکیده

From its inception it was known that qualitative reasoning had a problem with the generation of spurious behaviours, and a great deal of effort has been expended in tackling this problem . Two approaches have been taken to constraint based qualitative simulation : constructive and non-constructive, though a thorough and objective examination of the operation and results of performing qualitative simulation by means of these two approaches has not been carried out . The context of the work presented here is fuzzy qualitative reasoning . The two systems FuSim and Alycroft are used to compare non-constructive, semiconstructive and constructive approaches ; and the results of this are described and analysed . A number of conclusions are drawn, the most important of which is confirmation of the idea of "horses for courses" . It is plain that a causally ordered model reveals the interactions of the relations in a straightforward manner and constructive qualitative analysis gives an efficient initialisation process, which may be useful for diagnosis or explanation . On the other hand, nonconstructive approaches permit the simulation of systems which contain algebraic loops .

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the influence of neglect and the effect of Prism Adaptation (PA) combined with continuous Theta-Burst Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (cTBS) on the art constructive errors of painting rehabilitation of stroke patients with neglect. Methods: Fourteen patients with neglect and art constructive errors of painting secondary to stroke were randomly as...

A constructive proof for FLP

We present a simple elementary proof for the result of Fischer, Lynch, and Paterson (FLP) [J. ACM 32 (2) (April 1985) 374–382] that the consensus problem cannot be solved deterministically in an asynchronous system where a single process may fail by crashing. Our proof is, in contrast to the original, constructive in its crucial lemma, showing not only that a nonterminating execution does exist...

Constructive Simulation as a Collaborative Learning Tool in Education and Training of Crisis Staff

This paper presents how military units and technology can help local societies in preparation for natural and man-made disasters by using constructive simulations. Contemporary constructive simulation systems allow for the implementation of non-combat scenarios, meaning that different social groups and institutions can be involved in learning exercises. These systems are recognized as tools app...

An Implementation of Constructive Synchronous Programs in POLIS

Design tools for embedded reactive systems commonly use a model of computation that employs both synchronous and asynchronous communication styles. We form a junction between these two with an implementation of synchronous languages and circuits (Esterel) on asynchronous networks (POLIS). We implement fact propagation, the key concept of synchronous constructive semantics, on an asynchronous no...
